In fact, it's the physically most toughest form of riding, since you're often standing on your foot pegs, shifting your motorcycle around with your body, and in general, using your physical abilities to their limit. Therefore, it's a young person's sport. Right? Wrong! In this 20 minute, well filmed documentary, you see it's all in your mind. Just because you've passed the age of 50/60 years, doesn't mean you can not go riding into the rough stuff. A 1st Look At The FIM E-Power Race, And Probably Last Posted: 12 Apr 2012 05:00 AM PDT #electric #FIM - As you may gather form the title, I am not amused. I planned to spend the weekend covering the 1st leg of the FIM e-Power race, electric race motorcycle, in the world championship. To my surprise, and dismay, there are only three teams present at Magny-Cours. I heard from the stewards that it's an improvement, since last year there were only 2 electric motorcycles. It's a pity that FIM is not throwing in a lot of their weight to promote the category. Paying for teams to attend (like the USA ones), would make the event much more interesting. I for one, am not planning to get up early in the morning to see the qualifiers or even the race, since it's not a real race if there are only 3 bikes. It's more a comical farce. ...

Their debt is out of this world, and the likes of Goldman and politicians have been milking the country dry for years. Salaries have been slashed, particularly for government employees, pensions cut, investments stopped and taxes (for those few who pay them) raised. Not a colorful situation. In order to cope with rising cost, and lower salaries, the Greek police force is now hiring out their cops to private individuals or companies. So if you are going to the latest "in" spot in town, and want to arrive in style, you can now arrive with a couple of police motorcycle escorts. Flashing lights, sirens; that will get people's attention. For sure it'll get you in the door without having to queue up. Rates are reasonable.... With sold out concerts throughout the UK, The Mercy House has just released their first album, and it's a winner. Lovers of heavy rock will dig this band. It's getting great reviews from the publishing industry, and they are going to be on their way to the very top. It's a name to note, since you'll be hearing more of them in the years to come. Nope, it's got nothing to do with motorcycles, none of the band members ride one, but the music they play is great to listen to when riding. Gone To The Races, Electric Motorcycle races Posted: 10 Apr 2012 11:00 PM PDT #Electric #Motorcycles #FIM: I'm on the road again, gone to the races. No, not horse races, but electric motorcycle races. I've planned to see the first leg of the international championships of the FIM e-Power races at Magny-Cours, France this weekend. I've decided it is time to start looking at these races more seriously if we want electric motorcycles to advance in technology. The only way electric bikes will improve rapidly is via competition, since that is what will drive them to make them ride faster, and for longer distances. Unfortunately, FIM and other organizers still don't look at this category seriously. The E-Power race is the first race on the agenda (the main event is the Bol d'Or 24 hour endurance race), starting on Saturday 9 AM..... 9 AM??? We'll be lucky to see the racers show up at that time....forget about any public and press (except me). I'll be sending out photos to my Facebook and Twitter accounts, not only from the e-Power race and qualifiers, but also the sidecar and Bol d'Or categories. ...

Find Out What Your Lean Angles Are On The Track, Like A Pro Posted: 10 Apr 2012 09:00 AM PDT Most professionals when they ride their motorcycle on a track, measure several data items; amongst others the lean angle (or better know as inclination), the G-force encountered, acceleration, etc. Although some modern sportsbike are able to measure some of this data on their own, there's a gadget for those that can not, and want to. Called the LeanoMeter, the device is self-sufficient and self-standing (in other words, you don't need to wire it to your motorcycle). Place it on your bike, and watch the figures as you evolve through the track. Two modes are available, SafeDisplay, the data are shown after you have taken a curve, and Live Mode, a mode to be used when you have mounted an external camera so you can analyze your behavior and performance after wards. At the "Relais Calmos Motards" you will be able to rest between bikers, eat, hot drinks, check your tire pressure, minor repairs, etc. Do watch out of the police before and after these rest stop, they are ALWAYS there! ...

1st Backflip With An Electric Motorcycle Posted: 05 Apr 2012 11:00 PM PDT The 1st #backflip on an #electric motorcycle? Apparently, during the Paris X-Trial championships held last week, the public got to see the first backflip on an electric motorcycle. Backflips are common in extreme sports, you get to see them in almost every X-Games show, but apparently this the first time it has been accomplished with an electric motorcycle. The whole idea of a backflip rests on a proper weight distribution, which on an electric bike is different. The rider, Christophe Bruand, did the backflip on an Electric Motion trial motorcycle.
