TapCaps: Using Gloves With Touchscreens On Your Motorcycle

Tap Cap

Often we have devices installed on our motorcycles that need to be "managed" while riding. GPS, music players, smartphones, XM radio, etc. It's not a good idea to do so when riding, but at times it can not be helped.

Many of these devices have touchscreens, and the problem is that often they will not work when you have gloves, especially thick motorcycle gloves.

Alice Ning invented a solution that will allow you to keep your motorcycle gloves (you can buy special touchscreen gloves, but they are expensive, and often not made for riding) and still use your touchscreen device. It's called TapCaps, and in fact it's a small sticker/patch put on the finger of your gloves, in the shape of a fingerprint, that allows you to "touch" your device, fooling it into thinking you are touching it with a normal finger.

Balneo Cafe Racer Dieppe 2012

Here are 37 photos of motorcycles, people and the area.

Unique Ferrari Motorcycle Sold

Ferrari 900 Motorcycle
Ferrari does not make motorcycles as we well know, despite the fact that Enzo Ferrari started his career racing motorcycles. David Kay, a British engineer, decided to make a Ferrari motorcycle to honor the brand, and in 1990 got an official permission by the Ferrari company. So in fact, this is the only "official" Ferrari motorcycle. There are several custom made motorcycles out there that have Ferrari written on them, but they are not recognized by the Italian manufacturer.

Kay's Ferrari 900, a 900 cc engine producing 105 hp at 8800 rpm, allowing the biker to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds, and a top speed of 160 mph, went up for auction last weekend at Bonhams.

The aluminium motorcycle, weighing only 172 kg was sold to a private, and unidentified, buyer for UK£85,000.

Wow! Was That A Rainy Weekend Or What?

Road Flooded Sign High Water
Last weekend I went to the 1st annual Balneo Cafe racer event organized in Dieppe, a stone throw from where I live, but the rain made it very difficult. My trusty BMW motorcycle was having problems coping with the tropical downpour.

More about the Cafe Racer event in the next article, but this is what I saw on the way back:
