I hope you all have a great New Year, and that 2012 may NOT be the end of the world (or at least, let me have my birthday first, since the end is predicted to be after my birthday on 12 Dec).

Wishing you health, wealth and loads of friends to enjoy it with. Let's hope you get to use your motorcycle everyday of the year.

I hope you enjoyed this year's efforts in amusing & entertaining you with motorcycle and scooter articles. Maybe one day the ad-blockers will be removed from this site so we can start paying the bills...

Enjoy the end of the year parties, drink in moderation, and have loads of fun. I'll be back on January 3rd, since on the 2nd I'll be having a dental operation (good way to start the year).

With the French government coming down very hard of speeders, the number of fake or false license plates in circulation has increased 19% last year, and probably much more this year.

The only way to escape hefty fines on your motorcycle nowadays is to use someone else's license plate.

But you can spend 7 years are the guest of the state for doing it...

Cool. The Belgium government finally went back to work, after some 2 years of a government-less country, and they immediately announced that they are financing the 2012 FIM/Monster Motocross of nations race to be held in their country to the tune of €250,000.

Not a bad way to make yourself popular with the motorcycling community.

Switzerland is getting serious about speeding and dangerous driving, be it cars or motorcycles. It used to be a matter of money, from the speeding fine. That was it. Now it's more serious....

You can now expect a jail term of between 1 and 4 years.

Do you think they serve Swiss cheese and chocolates in Swiss jails?

It's not an easy task to make an advertisement for a bank or financial services targeted at motorcycle riders. Most bikers just aren't interested in them. The FAM agency in Brazil did a pretty good job, producing ads that are for financial services geared towards motorcycle and scooter riders.

The company is Yamaha Bank, meant to give out loans to bikers wanting to buy a motorcycle or scooter. Instead of boring financial charts, theirs shows a bike. Nice touch.

Electric Scooter Made Out Of Linen

French research & development group, Citi, showed at the last Paris motorcycle & scooter exhibition, their electric scooter concept, named ek'O.

The interesting things that set this electric scooter apart from others, is that the frame shell is made out of linen (resin), and that it used only 15 parts, instead of the traditional average of 50 parts.

Performance is that of a 125cc, and they expect to be selling it by 2013 at a street price of €5000.

You see this often enough on news stories coming through the internet.... people riding in rain on a motorcycle holding an umbrella. You ask yourself how the heck they do it?

Or is this a 1 second photo, because in the 2nd second, either the umbrella has blown away, or the pillion has, or both.

It's one of those articles we love to read, especially during the festive season, when a disaster hits somewhere in the world, and a miracle occurs - a motorcycle is rescued out of the debris of a collapsed building, ALIVE.

Unfortunately, 13 people died during the explosion of a pipeline.
